Our Story

James & May is a small family run business based in the Colne Valley in the North Essex countryside, stocking a carefully chosen range of functional and beautiful homewares, lighting and gifts.

Our location, in the heart of a small village built around the local foundry, is a constant source of inspiration with many of our products having an industrial, vintage or functional edge to them, well suited to characterful & eclectic homes, however old or new.

Influenced daily by our roles as busy working parents, we also try to stock items that are practical and durable which will stand the test of time, be well loved, well used and age well rather than replaced from season to season.

Finally, we care about the origins of our products and try wherever possible to stock either locally produced and British made products or alternatively, ethically produced products from other corners of the globe.
